Subramanian Swamy threatens Jaitley, says he will move SC on GSTN

Today Subramanian Swamy, BJP leader threatened to move the Supreme Court if his demand to switch majority stake for private entities in the GSTN company isn’t met by month-end.

The former Law Minister has set a deadline of October thirty one for his demand of a government-owned structure to manage (GSTN) goods and Services Tax Network.

(Finance Minister Arun Jaitely) Jaitley has not agreed to this suggestion and says he can continue with Chidambaram’s things (former Finance Minister). you should replace HDFC (private entities) and ICICI Bank (in GSTN) which are under foreigners’ management, with state bank and rbi.

Swamy told reporters on the sidelines of a function at Nirma University here, “If he doesn’t rectify this before October thirty one, i’ll file a petition in the Supreme Court.”

The balance fifty one per cent equity is with non-Government financial institutions. while the Centre holds twenty four.5 per cent equity in GSTN — services to the Central and set up to supply IT infrastructure and taxpayers, State Governments and other stake- holders — an equal stake is to be with States.

Swamy had objected to the current holding pattern in GSTN and written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Swamy had asked Modi to subject GSTN to a “thorough scrutiny” and “close second look” questioning how a private entity will be allowed access to “sensitive” info while not security clearance.
