GUWAHATI: After her visit to the India-China border in Sikkim, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived at the Gajraj Corps headquarters and IAF‘s eastern airbase in Tezpur, about 185km from here, on Sunday.

The visit in Tezpur was part of Sitharaman’s maiden visit to the Eastern Command as defence minister during which she reviewed the formation of Indian Army and IAF. Tezpur is about 350km from Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang bordering China.

Meanwhile, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, while addressing IAF personnel on the Air Force Day, said that the IAF was prepared to fight a war at a short notice.
