Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, addressing a push conference right here, cited “precedents” to emphasise that the post poll coalition of his social gathering and JD(S) must be specified the opportunity to consider above the reins of power in Karnataka.
“We assume Karnataka governor to invite JD (S)-Cong coalition which has clear bulk to form federal government in the state. As per constitutional and legal provisions, the governor has no solution but to invite the coalition,” Surjewala claimed, adding their coalition has a clear bulk with 115 seats.
With election throwing a hung verdict, the Congress today announced its assistance to H D Kumaraswamy-led JD(S).
As per hottest final results and traits, the BJP has emerged victorious in 97 assembly seats and was primary in 7 other segments out of 222 constituencies where elections had taken put.
Congress has won 74 seats and was primary in 4 other individuals though JD(S) won 37 seats.
The Congress claimed the BJP’s claim to form a federal government in Karnataka is demolished by three precedents in Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya.
Justifying its transfer to stake claim alongside with the JDS to form the federal government, Surjewala claimed his social gathering had acted as per constitutional norms and traditions.
He also cited the occasion of BJP chief Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was invited to form a federal government by the then president KR Narayanan, noting the guiding principle behind it was that a social gathering or a combination of parties that has won the premier selection of seats be invited.
“As Congress-JD(S) get 95 seats and guide in 20 seats, complete bulk for the coalition is clear. Coalition also has 56 per cent vote share,” he claimed.
Surjewala claimed Narayanan had established a fair and constitutionally correct precedent by inviting Atal Bihari Vajpayee to form and guide a coalition federal government on 12th March, 1998.
Rejecting the BJP’s cost it was attempting to arrive to power by the backdoor, the social gathering also cited the cases of Goa, Manipur, Meghlaya, where the Congress could not form federal government irrespective of emerging as the premier social gathering.
“BJP’s claim of ‘single premier party’ to be invited is demolished by 3 latest precedents established by them-:
“(1) Goa (March 2017) Assembly Toughness – 40. Congress – 17. BJP – 12. BJP was invited to form the Govt by Governor in a post poll coalition BJP+MGP+GFP,” he tweeted before.
“(2) Manipur (March 2017) Assembly Toughness – 60. Congress – 28. BJP – 21. BJP was invited to form the Govt by Governor in a post poll coalition. So a lot so, 1 independent MLA was detained at Imphal Airport by stability businesses & handed above to BJP.”
“(3) Meghalaya (March 2018) Assembly Toughness – 60. Congress – 21. BJP – 2. BJP was invited to form the Govt by Governor in post poll coalition with NPEP+UDP+PDF+HSDPDP,” he claimed on Twitter.
